Toyota might not be the oldest automaker in the world, but it does sell the most vehicles. This year, the company has plans to produce its 25 millionth vehicle this year, as well as begin production on the innovative new Toyota EV RAV4.
Toyota managed to be very successful in 2011, despite environmental setbacks in Japan, including a tsunami and earthquake, as well as flooding in Thailand. The company was somehow able to ramp up production at the end of the year to catch up with its competitors despite huge shortages in vehicle parts and damaged factories.
The Japanese automaker initiated several factory expansions in 2011, including an expansion of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, West Virginia, increasing six-speed automatic transmission production, an expansion of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Alabama, increasing four-cylinder engine production and creating 240 new jobs, and a new Toyota Motor Manufacturing facility in Mississippi, to produce Toyota Corolla vehicles and creating two-thousand jobs.
In 2012, Toyota will produce twelve models in several variants in North America, including:
- the 2012 Toyota Corolla- the 2012 Toyota Camry
- the 2012 Toyota Highlander
- and the 2012 Toyota Tundra, to name a few.
These models are sure to contribute to Toyota's continued success, as will the new Toyota EV RAV4, which should delight fuel-conscious drivers across North America.
