What's New for the 2026 Toyota Tacoma
For 2026, updates include a black front logo on TRD Off-Road, TRD Sport, along with 18-inch TRD wheels paired with 32-inch Goodyear All-Terrain tires in the TRD Off-Road i-FORCE Premium Package. New color options include Heritage Blue and the striking Wave Maker color exclusive to the TRD Pro. A tow hitch is now standard on SR XtraCab models, as it is on all of the Double Cab models.
Engine Options & Performance
There are still two engine options for the 2026 Tacoma. The base powertrain is a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder producing 278 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission or the last available six-speed manual in a midsize truck.
The upgrade engine is the i-FORCE MAX Hybrid, which delivers an impressive 326 horsepower and 465 lb.-ft. of torque with an EPA-estimated 23 MPG combined fuel economy rating.
Advanced Technology & Interior Features
The new 2026 Tacoma features an available 14-inch multimedia touchscreen display supporting satellite navigation, SiriusXM, and wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto compatibility. Available 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with customizable displays for safety features, navigation, audio, off-road features, and towing functions.
The redesigned interior boasts nicer materials, high-resolution screens, and increased headroom with a raised seating position.
Off-Road Capability & Features
Built on Toyota's TNGA-F platform (shared with Tundra and Sequoia), the new Tacoma chassis combines high-strength steel with lightweight aluminum and laser welds for enhanced rigidity.
Available features include onboard air compressor, 2400W AC power supply, exterior LED scene lighting, and multi-link rear suspension. The TRD Off-Road models feature Stabilizer Disconnect Mechanism (SDM) and Crawl Control.
TRD Pro (Most Extreme Off-Road): Features IsoDynamic Performance front seats using air-over-oil shock absorbers to reduce body movement, TRD-tuned FOX QS3 adjustable shocks with rear piggyback reservoirs, and 33-inch Goodyear tires.
Trailhunter: Exclusively powered by i-FORCE MAX hybrid, featuring Old Man Emu 2.5-inch forged monotube shocks, 33-inch Goodyear Rugged-Terrain tires on bronze wheels, and RIGID Industries color-selectable LED fog lamps.
Towing Capacity:
Tacoma’s towing capability is impressive, with a maximum capacity of 6,500 lbs. and a payload of up to 1,705 lbs. Advanced towing aids include an available trailer brake controller, digital rearview mirror, and Trailer Back Up Guide with Straight Path Assist, which uses sensors and cameras to keep trailers aligned when reversing. The system also provides a 360-degree simulated top-down view for enhanced visibility.
Safety Features
All 2026 Tacoma models come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control. Also includes Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
